Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. She is also known for her roles in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney, the only daughter of a United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised by four siblings. When she was a little girl, she wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model commercials, she moved to New York. Her first job as an actor came as an innocent teenager in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of TV movies, film and dramas after that. Her personal life unlike her professional has not been successful and happy. The skilled actor been battling alcoholism as well as two divorces. In 2005 her custody was taken away from her.
